A distinctive statement using sustainable materials was required to act as a key building at the corner of this important site.  A simple palette of four main materials; glass, copper, slate and buff brickwork working in relation with each other create the horizontal layering of the building, identifiable as a contemporary structure within the mainly traditional new build village surroundings.

The office areas of the station are constructed at ground floor level from glazed curtain-walling and slate cladding with a visually floating copper box at first floor level. Equal horizontal handcrafted planks of pre-patinated copper form the distinctive copper box. The colour and texture of the green copper contrasts against the dark rough grey of the slate base, these materials are separated by a horizontal glazed clerestorey.  Openable windows punched into the box form deep reveals which enhance the overall dramatic impact of the copper box. 

The result is an elegant statement of architecture that highlights the craftsmanship and technical detailing of the chosen materials.
